Hiroshi Sugimoto makes long-exposure black-and-white photographs of movie theaters - exposing a single frame for the entire length of a film - as well as seascapes in which the horizon line divides the frame with absolute precision. He works with a large-format camera and silver gelatin film. His Theaters series, begun in 1978, now numbers more than one hundred images made in cinemas across the United States, Europe, and Japan.

Product description
Manufactured in Munich since the 1930s, the Technika is a precision large-format field camera produced in 4×5 and other formats. Its coupled rangefinder allowed photographers to work without a dark cloth, making it practical for location work demanding large format movements.
