Lynsey Addario has covered conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and South Sudan for The New York Times and National Geographic, and was kidnapped twice - once in Iraq in 2004 and once in Libya in 2011 while covering the civil war there. She received a MacArthur Fellowship in 2009. Her memoir It's What I Do (2015) was a New York Times bestseller and has been widely assigned in photojournalism programs.
