The ALEXA M, introduced in 2012, splits the ALEXA into a 6.4 lb sensor head and a 12.1 lb processing body connected by a fiber optic cable up to 20 feet long. It uses the same ALEV III Super 35 CMOS sensor as the standard ALEXA and was designed for 3D rigs, Steadicam, and tight-space shooting.
