Ben Broomfield
David Bailey began shooting for British Vogue in 1960 and, with Terence Donovan and Brian Duffy, transformed British fashion photography by replacing the formal studio aesthetic with an energy drawn from the streets. His relationship with Jean Shrimpton produced some of the defining portraits of the 1960s, and his subsequent work with Catherine Deneuve and Marie Helvin extended his influence into the following decades. He has also directed commercials and documentary films.
