Van Vechten, Carl, 1880-1964.
Salvador Dalí joined the Surrealist movement in 1929 and applied his meticulous academic technique to the representation of dreams and unconscious imagery in The Persistence of Memory (1931) and subsequent paintings that made him the most recognizable face of Surrealism internationally. He was expelled from the official Surrealist group by André Breton in 1934, largely for his political provocations. He spent his later decades in elaborate self-promotion, becoming as famous for his persona as for his paintings.

Product description
Extra-fine oil paints made in Belgium by the Blockx family since 1865, still hand-ground on slow-rotating stone mills using traditional methods. Earth tones and blacks are ground in linseed oil, while all other pigments use poppy seed oil to resist yellowing. Every color carries a minimum lightfastness rating of 7 out of 8 on the blue wool scale. Blockx is the oldest artist paint manufacturer continuously run by its founding family.
