Aryz (born Octavi Arrizabalaga, 1988) is a Spanish painter, muralist, and illustrator who emerged from the Barcelona graffiti scene in the early 2000s. Born in Palo Alto, California, he moved to Spain at age three and grew up near Barcelona. He is known for enormous freehand murals, often spanning entire building facades, painted with rollers and house paint without the aid of projection. His work features surreal figurative characters with skeletal and anatomical motifs rendered in a muted, painterly palette. He founded the Mixed Media art collective in 2007 and designed the album cover for Aesop Rock's Skelethon (2012).

Acrylic paint — pigment suspended in an acrylic polymer emulsion — dries quickly to a water-resistant finish and can be thinned with water or medium. Introduced commercially in the 1950s, it became the dominant alternative to oil paint for contemporary painters working in flat color, mixed media, and large-scale formats.
