Vivian Maier worked for more than four decades as a nanny in Chicago, photographing the city's streets almost entirely in secret. She produced an estimated 150,000 negatives over her lifetime, almost none of which were printed or shown publicly before her death. Her work was discovered by John Maloof at a Chicago auction house in 2007.
