Fernando Botero developed a manner of depicting human figures and objects in inflated, rounded volumes - what he calls his "formal sensuality" - that he has maintained consistently since the 1960s, applying it to Old Master subjects, Colombian genre scenes, and, in his late work, images of torture at Abu Ghraib. He is the most commercially successful living Latin American artist and is represented by major institutions in Colombia, where he donated more than 200 works to a museum in his hometown of Medellín. He died in 2023 at 91.

Product description
A water-soluble paint made from pigment bound with gum arabic, applied in transparent washes that allow the white of the paper to show through. Watercolors are built up in layers from light to dark, with the paper itself serving as the lightest value. Available in tubes (moist paste) and pans (dried cakes), the medium is prized for its luminosity and portability.
