Sayombhu Mukdeeprom is a Thai cinematographer who has shot exclusively on celluloid throughout his career, refusing nearly all offers to work digitally. He first gained international recognition for his long collaboration with director Apichatpong Weerasethakul, including Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2010. His work with Luca Guadagnino on Call Me by Your Name (2017), shot entirely with a single Cooke S4 35mm lens, brought him wider attention and an Independent Spirit Award nomination. He has since become a sought-after collaborator for directors including Ron Howard, M. Night Shyamalan, and again Guadagnino on Suspiria and Challengers.
