Stanley Kubrick
Stanley Kubrick directed 13 feature films across four decades, each a meticulously controlled work in a different genre - war film, horror, science fiction, historical epic, dark comedy. He worked in England from 1961 onward, maintaining near-total control over every aspect of production. His films - 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), The Shining (1980), Full Metal Jacket (1987), Eyes Wide Shut (1999) - are among the most studied in cinema history.

The Arriflex 35 BL (Blimped Lightweight), introduced in 1972, was the first self-blimped 35mm motion picture camera quiet enough for sync-sound shooting without an external housing. Its mirror-reflex viewfinder and rugged construction made it a standard tool in European and independent filmmaking from the 1970s onward.
